Megan Carine

Lead Veterinary Nurse

After finishing my A Levels, I worked at an equine dressage yard as a groom for a few months before starting at Newton Clarke Vets in January 2018 as an Animal Nursing Assistant. I completed the Animal Nursing Assistant course before starting my Veterinary Nurse training. Since qualifying as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in January 2022, I have continued to keep learning; I have completed the Compassion Understood course as well as courses in animal behaviour and osteoarthritis/orthopaedics. I am currently working towards the Surgical Nursing Certificate as an additional qualification.

I am proud to be Lead Nurse at Newton Clarke, working with our Head Nurse to continuously implement positive changes to provide the very best care to our patients.

My primary interests at work are anaesthesia, orthopaedics, inpatient care and providing the very best end of life care.

Outside of work, I’m interested in photography and videography. In fact, you’ll probably see some of my photography featured on the Newton Clarke Vets website, Facebook and Instagram. I enjoy spending time with my Jack Russell, Bertie, and my cat, Severus, who was brought into our practice as a stray and came home with me “just for the weekend” quite a few years ago. I love horses and small furries (especially rats). I used to have pet rats and they were the loveliest girls, I can’t wait to have more one day!

I find it very rewarding nursing a patient back to health, taking care of them as if they were my own. There’s nothing better than caring for a patient and then seeing them going back home happy again!
