Following graduation from The Royal Veterinary College, with honours in 2001, I started my first job at White Lodge Veterinary Practice. A rural mixed practice in West Somerset where I stayed for 4 years before moving to this area. I then wanted to concentrate purely on small animal veterinary care and I moved to Shreen Vets. After 9 years there, I moved to Newton Clarke Vets to continue my focus. I’m interested in emergency care of very ill animals where decisions need to be made quickly and under pressure, where those decisions also have the capacity to dramatically improve the outcome for our patients. I thrive on the challenge of complicated cases both surgically and when it comes to medicating.

I completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Emergency Medicine and Critical Care in 2022.

I grew up by the coast in North Devon and love outdoor sports such as trail and long-distance running. My longest run to date is a 70 mile ultra on the Exmoor Coast. Did I say, I like a challenge!

You’ll also find me open water swimming or camping in remote places in my van with my dog, Ellie. This is a very special treat for her – as it’s the only time she’s allowed to sleep on my bed! She’s the best running buddy ever and gives great cuddles too. I also have a rescue cat called William who loves to join in sofa snuggles and seems to be completely oblivious to the fact he only has 3 legs.

I’ve now been with Newton Clarke Vets for 8 years. The family ethos and emphasis on personalised, individual care for our patients is very important to me as a vet.
